Re: FSN numbering system

Thank you for the information. As always you are most help full. I am going to place all of the 11 digit items with my VN. display and only use the 7 digit hyphenated items for the Korean war show case. Thank you again.

FSN numbering system

What year was the 11 digit numbering system put into use and was the FSN abbreviation used only for certain items?
I have a collection of Korean War items and am not sure if the 11 digit items would be correct for that period. Thanks.

Re: cooking utensils

Perfect description of the marking. I was asked the same question about the time period and was pretty sure it was post war. I just wanted to be sure. Thanks Ben.

Does anyone know when the caduceus was stamped onto the Med. Dept. eating utensils? Was that WW2 time period or post?

Very nice job! Can you tell me how or where you were able to find the caduceus decal? Thanks.

caduceus decal

I have a medical chest that has been re-painted. I cannot get the paint off of the caduceus emblem without ruining the emblem. Does anyone know if there is somewhere that I can buy a replica decal to put on the chest?

Re: MD/X-ray Chest 9608810

I was finally able to get some pictures of the chest (posted above). You were correct Ben, the chest did have chain-link handles as you can see the impressions made from the triangular piece just between the bracket holes. I only wish I would have known about the chain handles when I was at the sale...

MD/X-ray Chest 9608810

I purchased a Medical Chest at an estate sale. Someone had recently spray painted the whole thing a greenish color. You can still smell the paint on the inside. After carefully stripping certain areas of the chest, the color I found is O.D. and these are the markings I found; Top - 100 lb 5.5 cu ft ...

Chest Ambulance Airplane 97518 Empty

I recently acquired my 2nd 97158 chest. The first one someone had taken all of the inserts out of, it is just the box. The 2nd one seems to have all of the interior hardware/drawers still intact, not really sure. Other items it came with was a hypodermic holder, a small wooden piece that may have he...

Re: WC 18 "Load Out"

I have just acquired a "chest, ambulance, airplane' box with no contents. Can anyone post a list of the contents and maybe a picture of the interior? I would like to start filling the drawers and compartments with the correct items. Thank you.

Re: Website Redesign

Great job on the site! What a wonderful source of information. The only problem I am having is, if I click on a Hyperlinked item to view it, the site takes me to the top of the page instead of showing a picture of the item.
My best regards, Steve

Clearing station items

We are setting up a front line clearing/aid station. Can anyone help out as to what items they may have had and used? Would they have been issued small operating kits?

Re: Akko's MD collection

WOW! Very,Very nice collection. I agree, the themometer is tough one to find. I see some that look like they could be authentic, but how can you tell? I am having a hard time finding the sutures and needles, but I keep looking. That's half the fun. I will be posting pictures some time later of some ...
