Wes, My thought was that this item perhaps represented Item # 9617605: Chest, Field, 45 1/2 Inches Long by 18 Inches Wide by 18 Inches Deep, Empty , but of course, the dimensions are not correct. 9617605 is the only oversized Chest that I am familiar with, despite checking several original sources. ...

Hello Belchi,

The construction of the roll appears similar to those that were produced for the Medical Department during WW1 and the Interbellum period, but the use of buttons on the small pockets would indeed seem to suggest that it isn't made for the US Army.
