Hi Ben

Glad you like the set.

Thanks for qualifying their use as "blousing bands".

I believe they were also used for collecting water, perhaps another reason they were included in survival kits.

Cheers

Hi Alain

Thanks for that info.

I’ve also heard that, apart from the obvious  , they were used for blousing trousers over Jump boots.

Hi Alain This was supposed to be from the same source as the syringes and armbands. The syringes are boxed originals and the armbands are individualy numbered. The vendor had approximately 50 of the 2cc syringes and about the same number armbands. Nothing was expensive, the 2cc syringes were £6 each...

Hi Alain

Sounds very much like the same guy

The stamp measures 3 1/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches

I'd be very interested in what you can find out.

Cheers

War and Peace Show, Beltring finds part 1

The Belgian guy who sold me the towel was selling several other WW2 medical items which he told me had come from the same Hospital that was being renovated in Belgium. He told me that a friend of his heard that there was a stack of WW2 medic items in the building that was about to be demolished and ...

I found this towel at the War and Peace Show, Beltring, Kent last week. It measures 41 inches by 21 inches and is marked MEDICAL DEPARTMENT 1943. It has a hanger at each end. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k120/GICOP3/towel-1.jpg http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k120/GICOP3/towelmd1943.jpg http:...

Hi Peter Thanks for posting the pictures of your kit. The different number of sections is very interesting with all three sections of your kit being listed with specific items. With regard to my box, I find it hard to fathom why some of the sections are listed as empty. I would have thought that all...

Hi Peter

The 3 smaller ones are huck but the larger Camp LeJeune is definitely standard towelling material.

They are all WW2 period.

The one that shows as just white in the picture has “USN” in raised lettering across the centre
