Ships used for evacuation of wounded from Normandy and hospitals in Belgium

Wed Jun 13, 2018 00:45

Hi, I had a question I was hoping someone on this forum might be able to help with. I'm looking for a list or reference describing the ships and landing crafts that were used to evacuate wounded from Normandy during the early days of the D-Day invasion (ie, June 6 to 13th). Specifically the names/numbers of those ships. I have read that there were several hospital ships used but also LSTs were converted to carried the wounded back to hospitals in England.

Also I am looking for hospital units stationed in Belgium during December 1944-January 1945, which would have treated soldiers from the 82nd airborne.

Any help would be appreciated. This is my first time posting on this forum so I hope these questions are appropriate. Thank you in advance for your help, joan
