BRANSON REMEMBERS THE WOUNDED

Greetings,

I am pleased to announce a special Veterans Day Weekend event, hosted by the 84th ID "Railsplitters" and sponsored by the Branson Veterans Task Force. The event is titled "WWII Remembered" and will be held November 9-11th 2007. It is planned that this will become an annual event.

Many businesses and theaters in the Branson are supporting this endeavor, your participation can insure that funding will increase with each year to make this event one of the key WWII public displays in the country.

The event will be a WWII Encampment and public battles. The Branson Veterans Task Force is funding the transport of two M-5 Stuart Tanks and providing a mileage reimbursement to all reenactors that bring a WWII vehicle to the event. (pre-registration of vehicles for reimbursement is required)

Branson Missouri is host to over 50,000 veterans each year during Veterans Homecoming Week, and the Veterans Day Parade is billed as the largest Veterans Day Parade in the United States. The WWII encampment and battles will take place at the end of the week.

The mileage payment amount has been determined and is listed below.

Mileage reimbursement paid for transport of WWII Vehicles (pre-registration required)

Armored Vehicles and 2 1/2 Ton Vehicles contact Event Coordinator

Artillery pieces etc. contact Event Coordinator

3/4 Ton Vehicles = .30 cents per mile (round trip)

1/2 and 1/4 Ton Vehicles = .24 cents per mile (round trip)

All mileage will be paid round trip on a first to register basis

I have an L-Bird (WWII Recon Aircraft) scheduled to do fly-overs during the battles.

A gala ball is scheduled for Saturday night at the Chateau on the Lake (4 star hotel) with a dinner, dance, cash bar and a 1940's era Big Band, Les Brown and his band of Renown. This event is normally a $40 per head charge and sells out quickly. The Branson Veterans Task Force is reserving tickets for reenactors dressed in Ike's or Class A's and the cost will be $20 per head. Your significant other will get the same discount for being in uniform or 1940's era civilian dress.

We have accommodations available for those that do not have tents or do not wish to set up camp. The Missouri National Guard is providing three GP Medium tents and 100 cots for your use.

Construction is about to begin on gun emplacements that will be dug in at the battlefield. Gibson Technical Center students have completed construction of various props to be used in the battle, including Hedgehogs.
