Follow the link, on picture 14, what is the pouch in between the guy's two canteens? It looks like a Medical Bag with the ties done, but I can't be sure

Yes it's a standard Medical Pouch (Item # 9708500) with the false bottom closed. The bag also bears the post-war markings of the French Ministere de Guerre.
