Shelbyville 1943

Wed Sep 30, 2015 12:29

Hello there,

My name is Volkert Greveling and i'm from the Netherlands.
I'm writing a Novel about WW2 and i'm trying to get some information about that period.

The main character lives in Shelbyville Tennessee an i read an article about the 41e Evacuation Hospital situated there in 1943.
My Novel will be fictious, however the historic events will be based on true events and therefore i'm looking for some information regarding that period.
Is there someone who can tell me which detachment was responsible for the security of the Hospital in 1943.

I also have some questions regarding Shelbyville in that period, so if there is someone who can provide me the answers, that will be great.
Question 1; Did Pope's Cafe already existed in 1943?
2: Wich Hardware Store existed in 1943

You can email me personnally or give an answer in this forum.
Thanks already for the effort.

Greetings fom Holland

Volkert

Welcome to the forum.
I dont live in Shelbyville, but I do know that the famous Pope's cafe opened in 1946. Kept going until 2007 when it closed but I hear that it is open again. Don't know about hardware stores however.
