MD 4 Medical Chest

Hi Members,
I picked up this chest at a garage sale for $50. It looked so cool I had to get it. I assume it's from WW2 due to the K-ration warming can I found inside of the chest. Can anyone tell me what it was used for and is it unusual or common? I assume it's some sort of paperwork desk.
Thanks, Larry Oertel

That's the Administrative chest found in larger Aid Stations, In the lid should be (ideally) 2 folding stools. It would contain a typewriter and the needed forms to keep track of patients & supplies. Nice find! The leather handles indicates an early WWII chest type - later ones would have metal handles.

What part of the country is this located? I was just contacted by someone with the table & stools to complete it!
