[REF] Books I'm reading

Sat Mar 01, 2008 23:09

Recently, I've been doing a lot of reading up on WWII US Medical ETO Units, Surgeons, Nurses and Medics. Here is a list of few of the books I have read so far. They have all been very helpful to gain an understanding of what life was like for Medical Personel during WII in the ETO. If anyone has reccomendations of other books, please post them up. I'd like to read them as well.

"Combat Medic WWII", by John A. Kerener M.D. ISBN 1-59687-316-7

"The Medic, Life and Death in the Last Days of World War II" by Leo Litwak ISBN 1-56512-305-0

"No Greater Sacrifice, No Greater Love", by Walter Ford Carter with Terry Golway ISBN 1-58834-159-3

"The Other Side of Time, A Combat Surgeon in World War II" by Brendan Phibbs ISBN 0-316-70510-1

"American Nightingale, The Story of Frances Slanger, Forgotten Heroine of Normandy" by Bob Welch ISBN 0-7434-7758-8

"And if I Perish, Frontline US Army Nurses in World War II" by Evelyn M. Monahan and Rosemary Neidel-Greenlee ISBN 0-375-41514-9

Ben and I have duly noted your list of Medical-related books - there certainly are some to look for in the future ...
Thanks for sharing .

These books were all obtained on E-bay for little money and shipped very reasonably.
They are all about various individuals and their experiences in the Days of Africa through VE Day. There are many great photographs in each of these books that also help to show what "Camp" life was like during that time in history. The experiences related verbally will go along way to help a reenactor (of any scale) to better understand what and how to portray them. I have found these books to be real assets.
