[REF] Chest MD2 contents

Fri May 30, 2008 05:38

The list of contents for Chest MD2 lists Box Cash 7720500 for the middle tray. Anybody know what size the cash box is? Seems like I see a green cash box in every other antique shop I visit. It would be nice to happen on one or two.

Hi Peter,

Here is a picture of the Cash Box that is listed under the contents for the MD2 Chest. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any reference to the colour of the box, but this should give you an idea of what you're looking for:

Thanks,
Ben :)

Thanks Ben. Shall we assume its green? What do you think about the dimensions, look like about 9x3x3 inches?

No problem Peter 8)
I think your suggested dimensions look about correct, but I personally think that from the illustration, it looks as though the box isn't as tall as it is wide. Would welcome your comments, and I'd certainly be interested to learn whether or not you can source some of these.
Thanks,
Ben

The color is rather OD Green. I think I can get one for about $13.00 if you want one Ben, or anybody for your collection.

Hi Gauze,
That's actually looks like a standard container for the 12-Unit Vehicle F-A Kits (and Gas Casualty Treatment sets), as opposed to a Cash Box. You will note the two closing latches are not present on the Cash Box, and there is no lock on the container you've posted. Is this what you're able to get for $13?
Thanks for sharing,
Ben

Hey Gauze - that looks like a nice vehicle first aid kit. The price seems pretty good for an empty case. .... I like your suggestion and I think I'll use one of my extras as a temporary solution.

Ben - Its hard to tell regarding the height from that photo. I tried to measure the back corner adjusting for the difference in depth. I'll keep my eyes open for "something close". I guess you still need one for your kit :)

Ben - thanks again for posting the pic of the cash box. Thanks to your pic, I was able to find this:

Don't have it yet, but hopefully within the next week or two. The size is recorded as 9 3/8 long x 4 1/8 wide x 3 1/8 deep and it appears to be a consistent green throughout the box.

Very nice find indeed Peter! A truly nice find indeed. If the seller happens to have to another one of them by any chance, I'd certainly be interested to purchase it.
Well done!

Found it quite by accident. Was looking for supplies to fill aid kits and saw the metal box. The original picture was focused on the medical supplies and you could only see a little bit of the box. Seller posted a pic of the box and I waited 6 long days for the auction to close.

Story is that the uncle carried it thru North Africa, Sicily and Rome. I'll see if I can get more info about the uncle.

Ether for Anesthesia

Fri Mar 13, 2009 06:05

Ok, so it says MD Chest 2 should have 4 bottles of 1/4 pound Ether for Anesthesia.

Does anyone have an example of an Ether bottle or box that is marked for USMD? I have this photo of the 1/4 lb Ether, but I don't see any USMD markings.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Peter,
As far as I know, this was in fact the correct packaging used by the Medical Department during WW2. A great number of the Squibb products did not feature Medical Department Item Numbers, so I wouldn't be too concerned that it does not feature on the box.
Thanks,
Ben

Getting caught up with some stuff. Here is a photo of the cash box that I got.

Here are some more photos:

right end
maker mark
inside
inside measurement

As far as I can tell, there was no inside tray. I'm still working on all the contents. Anybody have pics of the hypo tablets or ampules? I'll most more pics as I get the cash box filled.
