It is a wooden box covered in OD canvass with a hinged lid, when opened there are two trays attached like a machanics tool box

Hi Loz,

Before I leave for Beltring, here is a list of equipment that should be packed into the Chest, according to the 1944 Medical Department Supply Catalog. In case you should need an earlier reference, let me know. You can click on the image to get a higher resolution version, which might be of more use to you.

I hope the above will be of use to you. See you in the week perhaps,
Ben :)

That's a shame, I know that Tony is going along and it would have been good to chat everything Medical! I'm sure we'll be able to catch up soon, though.
To be honest with you, I didn't find too much at Beltring. About the most notable purchase was the M1942 Command Post Tent from Mark in the unit and a Cotton Enlisted Men's 4-pocket Tunic.
Did you find anything interesting?
Cheers,
Ben ;)

Hi Ben
Picked up a litter, looks WW2 US but no markings on the canvass or the metalwork, only £35 and I have a mint canvas to put on it plus a few cheap carlisiles but nothing else to shout about.

Your flight chest is a great find ! There is a photo on plate 22 in the MED 3 catalog. The parts list is interesting, thanks Ben. Not really much in there that is not in the MD2 chest, so you could do it. Would be a geat display.
Again iteresting to note the evolution of medical practice during the war. My early war instrment set has a head mirror and hand held ear speculums, but the 1944 flight service chest had a battery otoscope.

Hi All
Yes this is the same as mine, the two metal loops for the strap appear to be missing, seams like a good price and a handy piece of kit, just open and you have all you bits on display.
ALL THE WAY!
