Looks to me like the number on the fender of the 2nd photo is 44474*. Yet the color bars on the fender look different between the two photos, but that could be just a trick of the light in the photo. I was also looking at the boarding plaque on the fender. Both vehicles look like they are intended for LCT 67, yet the only thing I can find about LCT 67 is that it served in the area of the Solomon Islands.

I believe blue, yellow, blue with number 42567 to be related to the 116IR/29ID....

But the colors don't match...

Very interesting indeed, Johan. I wonder whether someone misread the colour-number comparison chart? Another (unlikely) answer might be that the maroon pain used to represent the "7" digit has faded to the yellow that remains?
