Don't really know where to put this, but are these on Ebay any good?

If not, where can I get them?

Hi Paul,
The bottles that are shown in that auction aren't suitable for a WW2 display, they're far more tapered than those used during WW2, and plasma bottles were not graduated as the ones illustrated in the eBay auction. You can see some examples of Wartime variations either in our Photo Gallery or in our Plasma Equipment Article.
With regard to where these can be purchased from, there seems to have been an influx of these around a couple of years ago, but the sources that had them at the time are now all sold out...
I'll keep an eye open for you though!
Thanks,
Ben

Thanks Ben

I can feel myself opening up a big can of worms with this for myself, and more sleepless nites!!
Ask Dochoovie about my rations research, I tend to get "involved" too deep, but feel it has to be right.... 8)

I also downloaded the plasma box labels from the link elsewhere here, not quite sure about them, different from the original (?) example on the article you posted...What you think, and have you got dimensions so as I can attempt to reproduce?

Told you, I'm gonna be a right ole pain in the...

The PDF for this side is from Dochoovie, 250cc, reckon the size you guys posted is for the 400cc, if so, would you have dimensions for te 250cc, and/or PDF for the 400cc?
Image

Also, in the links there is a PDF set for a box with 6 packages of 500cc?

Got any info?

Paul,

The sizes that we both supplied were in fact for the 250 cc. package. If I remember correctly, there was a disclaimer posted with the original files, indicating that the sizes and fonts used on the labels you've applied were estimates only. This might explain why they appear to be a different size when compared with the originals which exist in mine and Johan's collection.

I might also suggest that you read our Article based on these Plasma boxes, since you'll note that there does not exist a "400 cc." box per se, rather, a larger package containing 600 cc. Distilled Water, which comprised Item # 1608800 - Plasma, Normal Human, Dried, 500 cc. Here's one of the 600 cc tins from my collection:

Image

Sizes are height: 240mm and diameter: 85mm. This particular example has been made by Cutter Laboratories, but I know that other manufacturers existed, including E. R. Squibb.

Thanks,
Ben

At first I thought "oh gawd, can i go and get my tomorrow people belt and go back and erase"..Then looked back:

"Thanks for sharing this file. I must admit though I have my doubts about the amount that you have indicated on the label. I can only find reference to 250 cc. and 500 cc. containers; not 350 cc. "

Then there is a post of a file for a 400cc bottle but no comments...

I did read the article, will go and find it again...I'm the type of donut head that has to read and re-read till it sinks in...Eventually it does...

Anyway, looks like the size of box is ok for the 250cc, wot do you think of them?

No problem Paul, I just wanted to clear up the confusion.
The boxes look good, but just a couple of suggestions if I may:
- Try and obtain some better labels, since the ones that you've sourced seem to have some 'funny' fonts.
- As you indicate, perhaps replace the tape too.
Thanks,
Ben

The tape on the originals is actually a clear "cellophane" tape made by "Scotch" brands and looks like packing tape!

The back panels look fine. I'd ditch the "D" labels. They are not as farby as some that are out there but...........

I print my labels on the "doodle pad" cheap kids drawing paper. It is very similar to the period paper labels.

OK...We have white rubberised tape, clear scotch tape (or celotape?), then we have:
A dark coloured tape which hugs the body of the box, much like mines:
Image
Image
No tape, but then, that's an illustration so can be discounted:
Image
Then we have a "side label" on top, and a diferent label on the side:
Image
Not sure about the tape on this one, but looks lighter than the box:
Image
Then a "green-ish" label as posted earlier...
What does one go by?
I reckon mines are ok, I will work on the plasm label proper, but really have litte to go by except the one here:
Image
Now, I can get fonts which are similar (and I would dialogue my way out with the old chestnut "change of printshop as main contractor ran out, and they used new/old labels"....this is kinda theatre?)...Anyway, I can't make out the line which is obscured by friction on the tape, the line under "which has been added to 1.50.00 (something something) then-
Line - undecypherable- then next line which I can make out...This is the line information I need to make it more credible, otherwise I will have to go wi wot I have, or make it up (which I would rather not do)...Better still, can someone tell me the whole label?

Phew, that was long...

Thanks...
