Old Time Radio ... and videos

Fri May 23, 2008 01:03

I think most people know about this already, but in case you don't ... Here is a collection of public domain old time radio shows. If look on the right side of the window, you should see a link for a bunch of AFRS shows as well. I'll load them on an MP3 player for period background music.

Might be difficult to work this into an event, but here is a collection of videos that can be downloaded and viewed at your pleasure. Some of John Ford's war time documentaries are available as well as PVT Snafu clips.

Anybody else have online libraries they use?

Enjoy!

Peter, I've gotten stuff from www.zootradio.com
They have an EXTENSIVE collection of things. Unfortunately the site is down now for a major overhaul, but if you go the the site you can drop the owner an email and he'll let you know when it's up again. I myself an always looking for things as well.

Here's a link for some great wartime things:

I've gotten alot of good stuff here. They are podcasts. Problem there is that there is some modern talk at the begining of each show (not much) that would need edited out before use for an event. Not bad to listen to in an MP3 player though. The podcast is available for free subscription through itunes as well.

You can find alot just by entering 'OTR' or 'Old Time Radio' in a search engine. There is quite a bit out there.
Anyone else got any more links?

This is a great site :)

http://www.jazz-on-line.com/pageinterrogation.php

Free, if you just want to listen via your computer, or membership is $5 for 3 months if you want to download tracks

I download the music in MP3 format and then copy to CD-R discs, managed to fill over 10 CD's this way

Cheers

Martyn
