Medical Pouch & Suspender Manufacturers
Posted: Mon Sep 08, 2008 00:10
In the same vein as Dustin's thread regarding the Contractors for the Parachute First-Aid Packet, I wonder whether or not any of the members on this board should have information relating to the manufacturers and/or contractors of the Medical Pouches and Suspenders.
Any help would certainly be most gratefully received indeed.

According to Government Issue: A Collectors Guide, by Henri-Paul Enjames, he states on pg 224 the following: "Like most Medical Dept. webbing or canvas items, it does not bear any markings of the manufacturer or date". He was refering to the Suspenders. Now, I do not put a whole bunch of faith in one book, however I will keep my eyes open and post should I find another example.

Did you see these on Ebay a month ago
Never seen any maker marked myself

The item offered on eBay is NOT a Medical Suspender - the straps very much look like suspenders from the M-1928 Haversack, or something similar ...
I'm afraid the only genuine Medical Suspender is the item described in our Article TR No. 405-95 . For more data , please revert to my Article relating to Medical Kits & Contents - Background Information and Development . I still think this is the only available information on the subject . Medical suspenders and lots of other MD accessories never carried any specific manufacturer markings (with the exception of individual , and possibly unit markings) .
Another friendly advice , please don't take ALL data in H-P Enjames' Collector's Guide for granted !

Thanks for all of the responses guys!
I am indeed aware that the vast majority of the Medical Department individual equipment did not bear any markings indicating manufacturer or date. I posed this question in case any of our readers might have any papers or journals indicating the manufacturer of the items.
Alain and I have discussed this matter via email, and we believe that the manufacturers of these items were the Medical Research Lab
and later the Federal Prison Industries
, but of course we would welcome any additional comments on the matter.

Thanks for posting the link, they're most definitely reproduction indeed. I seem to recall that a number of the reproduction companies mark their Suspenders in such a way to identify them amongst originals.
