Was looking for something else and in FM8-50 Sept 11, 1940, on page 14, it says the wire splints 3 1/2 by 31 inches. One short side is missing with a gap between bars about 5/8 inch apart. Now I'll see if I can find the right ladder splints.
Also found out that the Army hinged half-ring leg splint, Splint support and footrest, and Thomas spling, arm-hinged all are made out of "1/4 inch cold rolled or Bessemer steel rod". Guess I'll have to see what Google can find.
