Wanted: ANC items

Sat Aug 16, 2008 15:04

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for anything and everything that would apply to a WWII Evac Hospital. My primary impression is an ETO front-line nurse. Any clothing, hospital items. I will be using this stuff at the local middle and high schools as well, when we go to do an educational activity for them. I need uniforms, equipment, tents....etc.
Thanks,
-Lisa

Lisa:

Your best bet on uniforms is to hit e-bay daily. There are some great sets out there, but women's items are getting pricy.

reproductions:
WWII Impressions offers HBTs and some other items
WPG offers some woolen items
Light Horse in Belgium(?) offers some dresses & dress uniforms
National Capital offers some womens and has good insignia

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to get some off someone who was selling. I have done ebay, but I am not a good ebayer, as I get outbid at the last minute. I have plans to go see George Peterson (National Capital)in September. I can get the ANC jacket and skirt from George for $360, where WWII Impressions wants $360 alone for the jacket. I always wind up watching stuff in ebay but never winning. Then the problem is my size, I am a 10/12 US and that stuff on ebay is usually like a size 4. Anyway, sorry for being so long winded. Thanks for the advice.

Lisa:

Glad to be of help. When buying WWII originals, it will be even more entertaining than you might think. In the early 1950's women's clothing sizes were re-adjusted, and a WWII 12 is smaller than a post-war 12. Just a heads up - if it seems like it will be too big, buy it and it will still be a little snug.

Welcome to the hobby - we guys are delighted to see another woman join into this male-dominated bunch.

Lisa,
As Dave has said, welcome to the hobby! There is a company over here in the UK named "Warhorse Trading Post", and as far as I know, their reproduction female clothing is pretty accurate. Unfortunately, their website seems to be down at the moment, but if you'd like I can try get a price from them, or at least send you their email address, in the hope that you can try contacting them...
Thanks and kind regards,
Ben :P

Lisa: I've used Warhorse (I called them "light horse" in my first note) offers a better selection of items than some others - good quality and items not seen elsewhere. (http://www.warhorsetradingpost.com/). Also look at What Price Glory - (http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopdisplayc ... =WAC+ITEMS) or (http://www.whatpriceglory.com/wac.htm) Their offerings fill a few holes others don't offer.

Originals are getting scarce, but keep your eyes open (I've bought nice sets at flea markets & antique stores for a song...)

Thanks so much guys. Yes Alain I would be interested in a price if possible from them. I have actually been in the "hobby" for a while but only as a pencil pusher for my hubby's group....LOL. I finally have time to concentrate on me since I am not coordinating events...or working like crazy..Thanks so much

Lisa,
I will see whether or not I can obtain a price list from Warhorse Trading. I seem to recall having one somewhere, but I will give them a call for you and note down the prices. I will also post them on the site, in case they might be of use to other re-enactors!
Thanks,
Ben
