WC 54 Advice

Sun May 06, 2007 04:36

Guys- I may have an opportunity to trade my Medic litter Jeep for a WC54 Ambulance. What are the pro's and con's as experienced by you who have WC Ambulances or similar sized vehicles (and there are several it look like!) that have been this route? How do you transport the vehicle to events (drive it / trailer) ? If trailered how big of a truck / trailer do you have to pull it with? What are the things you like best about the WC54 if you had a jeep before which do you like better?

Thanks- just wanting to do my homework on this!

I’ve got a WC64 knockdown ambulance and can give you some pro’s of my Dodge ambulance

- Much bigger so you can pack all your gear inside but takes more storing space and especially the height could be a problem (mine is 2,5 m) so that’s a disadvantage
- you can transport more wounded (mine max. 6 on stretchers or 10 sitting down)
-It’s much safer to drive
- bigger wheels so less problems in muddy terrain
- Drives comfortable because it got good suspension and shock absorbers
- It even got a heather in the drivers cabin so driving in winter is no problem (no ice on the inside of the windows)
- You can sleep comfortable, warm and dry inside so no tent is needed.
- You can put a big trailer on the back with more stuff, I have a buffalo. Others take a trailer with a Jeep on it.
- You also can use it as a camper with your family, for all kind of activities for youth and first aid ;)

Hello Bill,

I was in Waalwijk but there where 2 WC64's. I presume you saw the pictures of KTR and that's not mine. Here a picture of my ambulance
