YAY!! I found it, I knew I had it. The name of the movie is "The Lost Battalion", and it is a WWI film about the Ardennes.....hehehehe....

I may be a bit late comming in on this
Battleground and Twelve o'clock High, simpley the best war movies ever made, A walk in the sun is up there as well
As for Korea try Battle circus,1952.. about a MASH unit, not a great film but it stars Humphry Bogart.
And for different reasons THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES 1946 with (Airborne) SGT Harold Russell as the dubble amputee sailor.
