The Tent...is another great story and score. I received a call from this gent who knows I am into WWII military stuff. He told me that he had one of his dads old tents in his attic and that it was stinking up his attic with that "old military smell". He said if I could get it out I could have it.
My son and I wrestled this down a ladder along with the tent poles. Upon carrying it out the canvas bag wrapping the tent ripped badly from age and dry rot so I had little hope for the tent. When we first put it up we found that for 63 years old that it was near new. A couple of small rips and a grommet pulled out but not much more damage. This was more than I could have ever hoped for.
I took a picture of the tag (along with original safety pin on it). You can see it is a Navy tent from 44. Now if I can just figure out how to hang the home-made 8 foot by 8 foot Geneva cross I made for it.
