Field Dressings

Mon Mar 05, 2007 18:37

Hi
In the medic pouch 9711600 there is a standard list of items carried. I was wondering, as I have a selection of American, British and German items when a medic was in the field/ combat would he have carried medic items such as field dressings that he found, borrowed or acquired by other means such as British and German field dressings. Thanks

Oh yes they would. From reading stories about combat medics, they would use anything they would find. Torn down bed sheets and when they could get supplies out in the field they would stock up on the main stuff that they used. The 'official' list was thrown out the window out there in the field.

Thank you mec1945 for your reply. I'm glad I will still be able to use them.

In fact I have a great pic of a American Medical Officer sitting in a Jap Medical Dump salvaging items for reuse. There was even a publication that said how to interpret what the Kanji said so they knew what it was for reuse. Similar situation with the Hun I'm sure!

Doc Dean, I second the request for the picture. Furthermore, do you have the document for translating the Jap medical supplies in a format that could be shared as well? Both would help my PTO impression!
