plasma bottle

Hi Paul

Here is the text as it appears on the label featuring on my box, I hope that it will be of some use to you:

Package includes one bottle to yield 250 cc. of restored plasma, to
which has been added as a preservative 1 :50,000 phenyl mercuric
borate; one bottle containing 300 cc. of pyrogen-free, sterile,
distilled water, to which has been added 0.1% citric acid ( U.S.P.
X I I ); and one complete outfit for administration.

With regard to the tape that should be used, I'd recommend you follow the official regulations, as follows:

[the tape] must be pressure-sensitive; waterproof; 1½ inches wide; with no rubber content, either crude or reclaimed; and incapable of reflecting light; and capable of withstanding severe climatic changes without appreciable deterioration. Paper tape is not satisfactory...

Majick, thanks...I can now proceed, hope I an't been a pain here guys...

As regards regulations, now it may or may not be the case, but with every other regulations in the U.S Army during WWII, there was regulations which where never complied (though sometimes they where)....Medical, I am still learning, and no doubt if I dig deeper....?

Hi Paul,
The bottles that are shown in that auction aren't suitable for a WW2 display, they're far more tapered than those used during WW2, and plasma bottles were not graduated as the ones illustrated in the eBay auction. You can see some examples of Wartime variations either in our Photo Gallery or in our Plasma Equipment Article

Sorry to btt this old thread, but why do I only see half images in the gallery? The gallery remains in front of the lower half of the larger photo...help?

Hello Ben, see below. The photo I did click on remains half hidden (the blood bottle in this case). Can't scroll on it etc. Hope you can help. Do others have the same problem?
