Emergency Medical Tags

Sat Jul 07, 2012 07:53

Recently I bought these tags at a well known dealer, but is it the real deal (as I've seen some quality fakes on the internet)...
What do you guys think?

Mine has a Jacket no. of 494689 instead of your 694689. Don't know which number is the correct one  But yours looks to me if its has been printed yesterday...

It looks almost too new to be good, but it has that typical "WWII smell" which I cannot photograph.

According to http://www.mtaofnj.org/content/WWII%20Combat%20Medic%20-%20Dave%20Steinert/different_variations_in_the_emer.htm there are variations known with the 694689 number.

Hi Skylighter,
This certainly IS a reproduction.

Can you tell us who the "well-known" dealer is ?
Would you mind sharing the price he charged for the EMT ?
Did he tell you it was a genuine item ?

Thanks,

Alain

Thanks for the anwser Bob and Alain. Bought the tags in "a rush" for €150,-.
Will contact the dealer to return the tags and my money. If he does so I'm not going to name him in public.

What is characteristic about these tags shown that we can name them replica? To avoid further mistakes. :)

These are my thoughts:

- Yours has been printed by a Laser Printer, which came up the market about 1 or 2 decades ago
- The Jacket number printed on the front page is wrong.
- The Caduceus logo is different: the wings are odd
- After 70 years, the inside paper cannot be bright white anymore

Thanks Bob. I went back to the dealer and he accepted the return. Instead of the tags I bought myself a nice liner.
