The first 4 pictures are at Operation Kick-Off (Leopoldsburg, Belgium)
Those in sepia were at a very boring event in Lichtaart (Belgium)
The 3 last ones were at Operation Caliban, an event organized by our group.
Also in Belgium.

Medical Impression

Thu Nov 29, 2007 21:40

Hi Thomas,
I must congratulate you guys for some very 'realistic' pictures !
Apart from a few less important details, you could improve your WW2 medical impressions by closely scrutinizing vintage images - this would help avoid some errors, such as medics wearing surgical gloves in the field, and using 3-pocket grenade carriers ... also try a uniform approach, and have people of one and the same unit wear identical uniform, gear, markings, identification, etc. this makes it more coherent .
This is not a criticism, I'm just trying to help .
All the best with your WW2 medical impressions,
Alain

P.S. I seem to recognize some familiar faces here ?

Thomas, I can only really echo the comments of the two posts above. You certainly have a very realistic looking impression there, and I think as Alain says if you were able to standardise a unit, the photographs would be almost indistinguishable from a period photograph!

Well done, and keep up the good work,
Ben

Ben and Alain,

Thanks for the nice reactions!
I can give you an explanation for every reaction you gave me.

1. Medical gloves
We used them because there was an act in which a soldier was hit by a shrapnel. Because of that he had a big wound around his lever. We used a real lever for this act (one of a pig). And because of infection danger we wore gloves. We used transparent ones, but as you see, you can still see them.

2. 3-pocket grenade carrier
My friend use them because he saw pictures of it. I never saw them, but I heard from vets that they actually used them. So that's the reason why you can see it by my friend.

3. Uniform
On picture 4 you can actually see 2 different divisions. But also that has a reason. The picture was taken at Operation Kick-Off in a battle in which about 150 men took part. So that means about 20 different clubs.
And we worked together with other medics of another group.
That's the reason why you can see a patch of the 2nd Armored Division and one of the 35th Infantry Division.
Our group represents the 110th Medical Battalion, 35th Infantry Division.

But I really appreciate your comment and that's also the reason why I post these pictures.
We do a lot of research, but we aren't perfect, so we really like comment on what we do.

Oh, Alain, we aren't brothers if you think that. But you're not the only one who said this:D
On picture 5, you can see my face best and I'm on the left.

Best Regards
Thomas
