List of Medical T/O & T/O & E

A Table of Organization and Equipment (T/O & E) is a chart-like document published by the War Department prescribing the organic structure, manpower, and equipage of military units. This includes military organizations from divisional size and down, but also covers Headquarters of Corps and Armies. In fall of 1942, Organization and Equipment Tables were expressed in separate T/Os and T/Es. In order to provide a better coordination between Organization and Equipment, Tables were consolidated in August 1943 to form a T/O & E for each standard unit. The T/O & E provided the official designation of the unit, it prescribed the authorized numbers, ranks, and personnel qualifications, and also indicated the number and distribution of weapons, means of transportation, and major equipment items. Changes were frequently published and numbered in a sequence (as for Military Manuals), and when T/O & Es became outdated, they were simply superseded by new Tables using the same number but receiving a later date.Units operating under ‘special’ conditions were given T/O & Es with suffix S. Tentative T/O & Es were prepared for experimental purposes, and received suffix T (after the numbers), until the final organization and equipment tables were approved.

The following is a list of available medical Tables of Organisation & Equipment. This list is by no means exhaustive, and we would be most interested to learn of any other medical T/O & Es which may be added to this list. Please forward the necessary details to info@med-dept.com.
